rafiki_logoRafiki is the Swaheli word for “friend”. When I was little, I was extremely difficult to feed. “Sticky girl,” my mother would say. “Iki, iki,” quothe I, and the nickname held. So I have always been known as Iki and chose to name my company rafIki as a fun combination of my name and my roots.

Even though I refer to rafIki Film Productions, I think of Rafiki Productions as the umbrella title for all my creative work.  Thus, on this website, you will find detailed information about my FILMS and BOOKS, as well as a special page dedicated to my most recent film, BEAUTIFUL TREE, SEVERED ROOTS.

My current project is NAISULA – A PRAYER FOR A WHITE WOMAN, HER AFRICAN SERVANT, A SHAMAN AND A SPIRIT CHILD – an epic poem that I wrote and have now staged for the theater.  I was lucky enough to win a coveted spot in the John Drew Theater’s Works-In-Progress Lab at Guild Hall in East Hampton, NY.  The performance took place on October 3, 2017 at 7.30pm, and was a resounding success!

Most of all, though, it is the site from which I sell my films.  So if you would like to purchase copies of any film, please follow the BUY A FILM! links on each page or go to the SHOP page where you’ll find order forms and all the information you need.
